With Virginia Woolf, I seemed to have established an affinity with middle-aged American alcoholics. Sissy was loud, brash, curvy and colourful, and wandered around with a beer bottle instead of a gin glass. I worked with a fabulous team, including some highly talented young performers who played the junior dopplegangers of several of our characters.
